Govt investment nears Rs. 800 billion in PEs as dividends decline

Government investment in public enterprises (PEs) reached nearly Rs. 800 billion in fiscal year 2024/25, an increase of 13.44% from the previous year, while dividend returns declined to Rs. 8.37 billion. Despite mixed performance, with some enterprises like Nepal Airlines Corporation recording significant losses, the net profit of public enterprises increased by 12.03% to Rs. 45.08 billion. The report highlighted issues such as unclear objectives, operational inefficiency, and weak management, recommending a Public Enterprises Reform Programme.
