Nepal secured a 1-0 victory against Bhutan in their opening match of the SAFF Women’s Championship held at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Goa, India. Gita Rana scored the winning goal in the 23rd minute. Nepal is in Group 'A' with Sri Lanka and Bhutan and will play Sri Lanka next on May 31. The top two teams from each group advance to the semifinals.
