The government, led by Prime Minister Balendra Shah, has decided to provide Rs 25,000 in rehabilitation support to each landless and squatter family displaced from riverbank settlements in Kathmandu. A Cabinet meeting also approved a proposal for temporary housing support, offering Rs 15,000 per month for three months to manage temporary housing for displaced families.
