Federal Government Cuts Financial Equalization Grants to Local Levels

The federal government has reduced the financial equalization grants to local levels, cutting the final installment for the current fiscal year. The National Federation of Rural Municipalities Nepal and the Nepal Municipal Association have strongly objected, warning of protests and calling the move contrary to fiscal federalism and local governments' constitutional rights. They demand the immediate release of the full grant amount.
