ERC leadership selection begins as Energy Ministry opens competition process

The Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation has initiated the selection process for vacant positions at the Electricity Regulatory Commission through open competition. A three-member recommendation committee, led by Ministry Secretary Chiranjeewee Chataut, has been formed to oversee the process and will soon issue a public notice for applications for the chairperson and four member positions. The commission has been without leadership since officials were relieved under a special ordinance. Separately, two new members have been appointed to the Nepal Electricity Authority's Board of Directors, and Dirghayu Kumar Shrestha has been appointed Acting Managing Director.
