Terai Madhes Loktantrik Party Submits 8-Point Suggestions for Constitution Amendment

The Terai Madhes Loktantrik Party (TMLP) has submitted 8-point suggestions to the constitution amendment task force, prioritizing federalism, electoral reform, and recognition of the Madhes movement. The party also questioned the task force's working procedure, stating discussions would be meaningful only if the task force publicly shares its views on the amendment's necessity and core subject matter. Key suggestions include not amending the preamble, adding 'Madhes movement and rebellion' after 'People's Movement', ensuring equality in non-resident Nepali citizenship, redemarcating Madhes into Eastern and Western provinces, maintaining the multi-party parliamentary democratic system, opposing any weakening of federalism, basing National Assembly representation on provincial population, implementing a fully proportional electoral system for the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies, and holding non-party local government elections.
