Small depositors of troubled cooperatives being repaid

The government has begun refunding deposits to small depositors affected by crisis-hit cooperatives, paying back 378 depositors from three cooperatives on Monday. The Problematic Cooperative Management Committee stated that remaining depositors will be paid gradually based on deposit size. Approximately Rs 46 billion in deposits from around 76,000 depositors need to be refunded, with most being small depositors who have less than Rs 500,000. Activities are underway to recover cooperative loans to facilitate these refunds.
