Government reduces ministries to 18 and assigns functions

The government has reduced the number of ministries to 18 and restructured their portfolios, renaming several and clearly dividing functions, departments, and offices. Prime Minister Balendra Shah will directly oversee the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Home Affairs, and Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. The "Government of Nepal (Allocation of Business) Rules, 2083" has been issued under Article 82(1) of the Constitution of Nepal to define responsibilities among the ministries.
