Locals protest before Mithila Municipality to stop extraction of gravel

Locals in Mithila Municipality-9, Dhanusha district, have protested against the extraction of gravel from the Badahari stream, demanding a ban due to increased risks of agricultural land submergence and drowning hazards. The Mithila Municipality had contracted Nerisha Construction Company Private Limited for gravel extraction from six rivers. Locals have vowed to halt gravel transportation until their demands are met. The municipality spokesperson stated that the locals' concerns are being addressed and the cancellation of the contract is under discussion.
