Minister Shrestha Highlights Rising Project Costs Due to Delays

Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Biraj Shrestha, stated that project costs are rising due to delays in development construction, making investments questionable. He highlighted that internal delays and international inflation are increasing costs, and if private sector investment in hydropower continues to become more expensive, its relevance will be debated. Shrestha also pointed to complexities in public procurement and contract management, emphasizing the need to address loopholes to avoid uncertainty and negative impacts on Foreign Direct Investment and private sector morale.
