NASA has unveiled its Moon Base initiative, planning to establish a sustained human presence near the Moon’s South Pole as part of the Artemis program. The initiative will be developed in three phases: robotic exploration through 2029, deployment of early habitation systems from 2029 to 2032, and establishing a sustained human presence after 2032. The lunar South Pole was chosen for its extended sunlight, favorable for solar power and stable thermal conditions, and its scientific interest.
