Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal stated that the Nepali community in Australia is crucial for strengthening bilateral relations between Nepal and Australia. Speaking at the launch of the report “Nepali Diaspora in Australia,” Khanal highlighted the diaspora's role in shaping diplomatic and people-to-people relations and mentioned the government's efforts to enhance Non-Resident Nepali citizenship provisions. Australian Ambassador Simon Ernst noted the Nepali community acts as a global bridge, fostering economic activity, cultural exchange, and social integration. The report estimates the Nepali-origin population in Australia reached approximately 213,580 by June 2025, with a significant portion migrating for higher education and earning substantial incomes.
