Honduras bloodshed escalates, 25 killed in gang massacre and anti-drug clash

At least 25 people were killed in two separate violent attacks in Honduras amid a nationwide crackdown on organized crime and drug trafficking. In the Colón department, 19 people were shot dead in an area affected by gang conflicts over palm plantation control and narcotics routes. Near the Guatemala border, five police officers and one civilian died in a clash between anti-drug forces and suspected traffickers. These attacks followed new security reforms allowing greater military involvement and the potential classification of gangs as terrorist organizations.
