NYC Air Quality Forecasted to Hit ‘Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups’ on Monday

New York City will be under an air quality health advisory on Monday, May 18, with officials warning that pollution levels may pose risks for sensitive groups. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation issued the advisory Sunday, forecasting the Air Quality Index (AQI) to reach Level Orange, or between 101 and 150. At this level, air quality is considered unhealthy for sensitive groups, including older adults, young children, pregnant individuals, outdoor workers, and people with heart or lung conditions such as asthma.
