Chinese technology giant Huawei has introduced the 'Tau (τ) Scaling Law' as a potential successor to Moore's Law, aiming to redefine semiconductor development. Presented at IEEE ISCAS 2026, the τ Scaling Law focuses on reducing signal propagation delays through systemic optimization, including 'Logic Folding' and multi-level co-optimization, rather than solely relying on transistor miniaturization. Huawei's next-generation Kirin chips, launching in Fall 2026, will be the first to integrate the Logic Folding architecture. The company emphasizes that international cooperation is crucial for addressing future semiconductor challenges.
