The Annual Status Review Report, 2083 indicates that while some public enterprises (PEs) are profitable, many are operating at a loss due to weak management and financial indiscipline. Out of 45 PEs in Nepal, 27 are profitable and 16 are loss-making, with total assets reaching Rs 3206.91 billion in FY 2081/82. Despite increased government investment, returns have not materialized proportionally, with total income increasing by only 0.67 percent.
