Scientists have discovered a new species of deep-sea octopus, named Microeledone galapagensis, near the Galapagos Islands. The small, blue octopus, found at a depth of nearly 1,800 meters, is distinguished by its rare color, stubby arms with a single row of suckers, and deep purple underside. Researchers used CT scans to examine the specimen without dissection, noting its unique characteristics compared to its larger relatives in the Megaleledonidae family.
