UK energy bills to rise as Mideast war impacts households

British energy bills are set to rise by 13 percent from July, adding approximately £18 per month to average household bills, according to energy regulator Ofgem. The increase is attributed to higher wholesale gas prices driven by the conflict in the Middle East and the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. A typical annual bill will rise to about £1,862.
