UN Urges Action on Child Online Safety

The United Nations has declared ensuring child safety online as an immediate priority, urging states and tech companies to hold responsible parties accountable for growing risks on digital platforms. UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Türk highlighted that while digital technology offers opportunities, children face significant safety and privacy risks due to platform design and business practices, emphasizing the need for effective regulation, oversight, and legal accountability beyond age restrictions.
