Private sector to trade electricity internationally, non-performing hydropower licenses to be revoked

Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle announced that the private sector can now engage in cross-border electricity trading, ending the state monopoly. Licenses for non-performing hydropower projects will be revoked and reallocated. The budget also introduces legal mechanisms to mobilize venture capital by drafting a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) law.
