751 encroached homes removed in Banke, hundreds relocated to shelter

Authorities in Kohalpur Municipality, Banke, have demolished 751 makeshift homes built on public land, displacing hundreds of families who are now sheltered in a temporary facility. Municipal Chief Full Prasad Acharya stated that efforts are being made to arrange land or provide livelihood support for genuine squatters. The demolition targeted settlements in Ward No. 11, with residents salvaging belongings before structures were cleared. Over 53,700 families in Banke district remain landless or squatters.
