Bangladesh reports sharp rise in child sexual violence

Bangladesh has reported a significant increase in violence against children in the first four months of 2026, with Ain o Salish Kendra data indicating at least 118 girls were raped and 46 attempted rape cases recorded. During the same period, 115 children were killed in various incidents. Rights groups note that perpetrators are often known to the victims, and fear or local influence can prevent reporting.
