Nepal Health Ministry Asserts Low Hantavirus Risk, Citing Absence of Key Rodent Species
The Ministry of Health and Population in Nepal has stated that the risk of hantavirus infection in the country is very low. Ministry spokesperson Dr. Samir Kumar Adhikari explained that the specific rodent species carrying the Andes strain of hantavirus, responsible for human infection, are not found in Nepal, and no confirmed cases have been reported. The ministry urged the public not to panic and to rely on official information.
