Mawtaung

Myanmar's military claims to have recaptured the southern border town of Mawtaung from ethnic minority armies and pro-democracy guerrillas. The army stated that regaining control of this trading post, lost in November, will allow cross-border trade and transport activities to resume. This claimed victory is presented as part of a series of recent successes against opposition forces since the 2021 military coup.
