National Human Rights Commission

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is facing criticism for withholding a 1,000-page report on human rights violations during the Gen Z protests in September 2025. A commission member stated that the delay is due to internal modifications concerning the Army's role, with office-bearers disagreeing on whether to question the Army's actions and potential accountability.

Nepali Congress President Gagan Thapa has demanded a judicial commission investigate the Bhadra 24 incident, stating that any government attempt to cover it up is unacceptable. He also called for the public release of the National Human Rights Commission's report on the events of September 8 and 9, 2025, and for those found guilty to be punished. Thapa also expressed readiness to resolve internal party disagreements and unite the Nepali Congress.
