Progressive Democratic Party Faces Split Over Ideological Differences; Bhattarai Group Boycotts Meeting
The Progressive Democratic Party (PrLoPa) is reportedly heading towards a split due to significant ideological and theoretical differences, particularly concerning a new political document on 'Socialist Democracy' presented by Chairman Santosh Pariyar. A faction led by patron Baburam Bhattarai, formerly of the Naya Shakti group, boycotted a central committee meeting, deeming Pariyar's document unworthy of discussion, and later expressed further agitation when it was circulated as a decision. The party's Chairman Council subsequently decided to bid farewell to Bhattarai, wishing him well in his independent political endeavors.
