The Association of Pharmaceutical Producers of Nepal (APPON) has urged the government to curb the import of foreign medicines, particularly those already produced domestically. APPON argues that Nepal is self-sufficient in various medicines and suggests importing only raw materials to protect national industries facing competition from cheaper foreign products.

Economists have called for significant restructuring of Nepal's tax administration, improvements in public finance management, and a more effective Value Added Tax (VAT) system. During discussions at the Finance Committee of the House of Representatives, experts emphasized aligning economic policy with the national budget and prioritizing structural economic reforms alongside good governance. They also suggested reducing the VAT rate and increasing income tax exemption thresholds to stimulate the economy.
