Truth and Reconciliation Commission

Opposition Leader Shalikram Jamkattel of the Bagmati Province Assembly has urged the government to prioritize the election of a Speaker before presenting the policy and program and budget. He stated that it is shameful for the assembly to be without a Speaker for an extended period and warned that other agendas cannot proceed until this post is filled. Jamkattel pledged the opposition's cooperation in electing a Speaker swiftly.

Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Sobita Gautam, stated that the government is committed to bringing transitional justice to a logical conclusion. Speaking at a Federal Parliament committee meeting, she announced that regulations for transitional justice commissions and victim compensation funds are now operational. The government is preparing a position paper and consulting with all parties and stakeholders to finalize this process.

The Federal Parliament House of Representatives convened to discuss legislative matters, including the consideration of several bills. Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Sobita Gautam presented proposals for amendments to the House of Representatives Election Bill and the Voter List Bill, alongside the National Forensic Science Laboratory Bill. Additionally, Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle presented the Alternative Development Finance Mobilization Bill for clause-wise discussion and potential passage. A new digital platform was also launched to enhance citizen participation in the lawmaking process.
