Nepali Literature in English Celebrated at INLS Conference; Awards Presented

The INLS Conference in Denver, Colorado, is hosting a session to celebrate the growth and global reach of Nepali literature written in English, exploring its evolving role within Nepal's literary tradition. Meanwhile, senior litterateur Dr. Garga Sharma will receive the 'Yugakabi Siddhi Charan Puraskar-2083' for his significant contributions to Nepali literature.

• The INLS session, titled “From Local Pages to Global Audiences: Celebrating Nepali Literature in English,” will examine the historical development of Nepali literature in English, tracing its roots to the 1950s and its establishment as a major strand since the early 2000s.
• Writers are now producing works in English from both within Nepal and from diaspora communities in the United States, Canada, and England.
• The Yugakabi Siddhi Charan Pratishthan presents the 'Yugakabi Siddhi Charan Puraskar-2083' annually to honor litterateurs who have made long-term contributions to Nepali literature, with the award including a cash prize of one lakh rupees.
• A selection subcommittee for the 'Yugakabi Siddhi Charan Puraskar-2083' was chaired by Dr. Mohan Lohani, with Dr. Abhi Subedi and Dr. Usha Thakur serving as members.
