Myanmar Awards Prestigious Buddhist Title to Dr. Lharkyal Lama in Nepal

The Myanmar government has honored Dr. Lharkyal Lama, also known as Khenpo Chime Tsering, with the "Maha Saddhamma Jotikadhaja" religious title for his contributions to Buddhism. The award ceremony took place on Saturday at Ngagyur Palyul Ling Monastery in Kathmandu, Nepal, with Myanmar's Ambassador to Nepal, U Thant Sin, presenting the title.

The title is awarded annually by the Myanmar government to individuals who have made significant contributions to Buddhist scholarship, spiritual practice, and the promotion and protection of Buddhist teachings.
The ceremony was attended by diplomats and representatives from the embassies of Myanmar, Sri Lanka, India, and the United States in Nepal, as well as various religious organizations.
Representatives from the Maha Bodhi Society in Bengaluru, the All Nepal Bhikkhu Association, and members of the Hyolmo community also participated.
Scholar Dr. Karam Phuntsok from Bhutan was among the guests present at the event.
