Nepal Continues to Grapple with Menstrual Taboos Despite Legal Bans
Despite legal interventions outlawing discriminatory practices, nearly 90% of women in Nepal still face social or religious restrictions during menstruation, according to activists and rights groups. These restrictions, rooted in beliefs of impurity, often lead to women's seclusion and exclusion from daily life. The situation persists despite the Muluki Criminal Code of 2017 criminalizing such practices.
