India's Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts the monsoon will arrive in Kerala six days earlier than usual, around May 26, potentially reaching other states ahead of schedule. Meanwhile, Nepal's Weather Forecasting Division predicts moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and windstorms in various provinces due to westerly and local wind systems.
- The IMD anticipates the monsoon reaching Rajasthan by June 20, Madhya Pradesh by June 12, Uttar Pradesh by June 18, and Bihar between June 8 and 10.
- Despite an early arrival forecast, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) fears a weak monsoon, drought, and increased severe heat in India.
- Heatwave alerts have been issued for Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and Vidarbha, with temperatures expected to reach 46-47 degrees Celsius.
- Nepal's forecast includes potential hailstorms in Madhesh, Lumbini, and Sudurpashchim provinces, and windstorms in Terai areas of Madhesh and Lumbini.
- The IMD noted conditions are favorable for the monsoon system to advance over parts of the south Bay of Bengal, the Andaman Sea, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands within 24 hours.
