India to Fund Construction of 14 Schools in Nepal Under Reconstruction Program

The Central Level Project Implementation Unit–Education, under Nepal's Ministry of Education and Sports, has signed contracts with construction companies to build 14 schools in eight districts. These schools will be constructed using grant assistance of Rs 56.02 crore from the Government of India as part of its post-earthquake reconstruction program. The project aims to rebuild schools to meet Nepal's standards for earthquake-resilient infrastructure.

  • The schools will be built in Gorkha, Nuwakot, Dhading, Dolakha, Kathmandu, Kavrepalanchowk, Ramechhap, and Sindhupalchok districts.
  • Facilities will include academic blocks, furnished classrooms, and separate sanitation for boys and girls.
  • Under the same Indian grant assistance, 70 schools and the Tribhuvan University Central Library have already been completed and handed over.
  • The Government of India has reaffirmed its commitment to ongoing cooperation with Nepal in socio-economic development and reconstruction.
