Russia Claims Development of New Ebola Strain Vaccine
Russia claims to have developed a vaccine effective against a new strain of Ebola, including the 'Bundibugyo' strain associated with the current outbreak in Africa. The Russian Embassy in South Africa stated that Russian scientists created the vaccine, which Russian Health Minister Mikhail Murashko indicated could offer protection. This announcement comes as the World Health Organization declared the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda a Public Health Emergency of International Concern.
