Two computer science students from Phedikhola Rural Municipality in Syangja have developed an AI assistant named 'Joya' as part of a local IT project. The assistant, created using Python, can perform various tasks based on user commands, such as playing music and accessing information, and was showcased at a local science exhibition.

  • The AI assistant 'Joya' was developed over approximately six months by students Kushal Pokharel and Ashal Pokharel from Chandidanda Secondary School.
  • The project was supported by their IT teacher, Bishal Lamichhane, and utilized Python programming as part of their Computer Science curriculum.
  • Joya currently functions as a digital assistant on laptops or computers, capable of tasks like opening websites, providing weather and time information, but lacks advanced features like image generation.
  • The students were inspired by AI and YouTube tutorials, aiming to create something similar to ChatGPT, though Joya is currently in its early stages and runs only on personal computers.
  • The project was presented at the First Science and Technology Exhibition organized by Phedikhola Rural Municipality.
