Nepal Issues 1,181 Climbing Permits for Spring Season, Everest Dominates

Nepal's Department of Tourism has issued 1,181 climbing permits to mountaineers from 79 countries for the spring 2026 season, with Mount Everest receiving the highest number of applications. Expeditions have commenced, and revenue from permits has reached over Rs 1.25 billion.

  • Mount Everest alone has granted 494 permits to climbers from 55 countries, with Chinese nationals securing the most permits (109).
