Water, Not Borders: A New Moment for Nepal–India Hydro-Diplomacy

Nepal and India face a critical juncture regarding water management due to climate change impacts like disrupted monsoons and melting glaciers. The Indo-Gangetic Basin is highly water-stressed, with both countries experiencing issues with groundwater depletion, floods, and droughts. The article proposes a Build–Operate–Transfer (BOT) model for joint investment in reservoirs and hydropower, suggesting water cooperation can serve as peace infrastructure and redefine bilateral relations.
