Govt to blacktop 1,000 km, build 200 bridges
The government plans to blacktop 1,000 kilometers of roads and construct 200 bridges in the upcoming fiscal year 2026/27, according to Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle. The East-West Highway expansion to four lanes is targeted within five years, with specific sections due for completion this fiscal year. The budget also allocates funds for the Kathmandu-Tarai/Madhesh Fast Track, Hulaki Rajmarga, Karnali Highway, Mid-Hill Highway, and studies for tunnel road projects.
