Govt announces 200 road bridges and major highway expansion plan

The government has announced the construction of 200 road bridges and the blacktopping of 1,000 kilometers of roads in fiscal year 2026/27. Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle also stated that an additional 80 kilometers of road construction will be carried out within the next two years, with an allocation of Rs 37.46 billion for the expansion of the East-West Highway into a four-lane corridor.
