Women in Patarasi Rural Municipality, Jumla, are abandoning the tradition of staying in menstrual huts (chhuigoth) during their periods, opting to stay safely indoors with improved hygiene and nutrition. Ward No. 1 is being prepared to be declared a “Chhuigoth-Free Ward,” with other wards already declared free of the practice. Local government and organizations like Sarvodaya Nepal are supporting awareness campaigns to end the practice, which negatively impacts women's health, dignity, and safety.
