Agriculture sector growth to almost halve this fiscal
The agricultural sector's growth rate is projected to decline to 1.58% in the current fiscal year 2025/26, down from 3.05% in the previous year, according to the Economic Survey. While production of most crops is expected to increase, cereal production is estimated to decrease by 1.63% due to unseasonal rainfall. Over 2.38 million households have been registered under the farmer listing program, and agricultural subsidies totaling Rs. 24.22 billion have been spent by mid-March. Irrigation facilities have been expanded, covering 44.63% of cultivable land.
