The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the Ebola outbreaks in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Uganda as a public health emergency of international concern, though not a pandemic emergency. The WHO noted eight laboratory-confirmed cases, 246 suspected cases, and 80 suspected deaths in the DRC, and two confirmed cases in Uganda. The organization advised partner states to implement cross-border screening and restrict travel for confirmed cases and contacts.
