White House shooting suspect dies in hospital

A suspect involved in a shooting near the White House died after opening fire on a U.S. Secret Service checkpoint and being struck by officers' return fire. The suspect approached the checkpoint, drew a weapon, and began shooting before being fatally wounded. A bystander was also hit by gunfire, but no Secret Service officers were injured.
