Government Suspends New Public Vehicle Registration Until Further Notice

The government has temporarily suspended the registration of new public transportation vehicles nationwide. This decision, issued by the Department of Transport Management, applies to buses, minibuses, microbuses, taxis, tuk-tuks, and electric vehicles used for public transport, with private vehicle registration continuing as usual. The suspension aims to address issues such as unscientific management, air pollution, traffic congestion, commuting difficulties, and rising fuel costs, and remains in effect until further notice under the Vehicle and Transportation Management Act, 2049.
