Annapurna First Ascent Marks 76 Years, Inspiring Marathon

The 76th anniversary of the first ascent of Annapurna I is being celebrated, inspiring an annual marathon. The first successful ascent by Maurice Herzog in 1950 significantly boosted global interest in mountain climbing and tourism in the Annapurna region. The Annapurna Marathon, now in its sixth edition, covers a challenging 42.195 km route from Annapurna Base Camp to Ghandruk, attracting both domestic and international runners.
