The European Commission has fined Chinese online retail company Temu €200 million for allowing the sale of illegal and unsafe goods, including dangerous children's toys and faulty chargers, on its platform. Temu failed to adequately assess risks to consumers, leading to the investigation under the EU's Digital Services Act. The company has been ordered to submit an action plan to resolve these issues by August 28, with the Commission to assess its improvements thereafter. This marks the second-largest fine under the Digital Services Act, following a €120 million fine imposed on X.
