The track opening of the North–South Koshi Road Project, linking Nepal, India, and China, has been completed, establishing the shortest possible trade route between India and China via Nepal. The Nepal Army opened a remote section in Sankhuwasabha, allowing vehicles to reach the Kimathanka border point for the first time. While track opening is complete, road upgrades and maintenance are ongoing, with challenges posed by continuous rainfall and difficult weather conditions.
