Disasters have claimed 70 lives across Nepal in the first 40 days of the Nepali year 2083, with 1,342 incidents reported nationwide, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority. Altitude sickness, lightning strikes, and fires were among the leading causes of death. As Nepal enters the monsoon season, flood and landslide risks are expected to rise, with several eastern districts already experiencing severe flooding.
