Members of the House of Representatives have drawn attention to the impact of heavy rains, storms, and landslides on citizens and infrastructure across various districts. Lawmakers are urging the government to provide appropriate compensation and relief to those affected, highlighting damage to homes, schools, and roads, and the disruption to daily life.

Sudden storms across Nepal have resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries. In Rolpa, two women died when a tree fell on them during a storm on Monday evening, while in Rautahat, a woman died after her house collapsed due to a storm. Separately, a bus accident in Kapilvastu on Tuesday morning injured 38 people.

A significant chemical leak at a GKN Aerospace plant in Garden Grove, California, has prompted authorities to order the evacuation of approximately 40,000 residents due to fears of a potential explosion and toxic exposure. The incident involved a storage tank of methyl methacrylate overheating and releasing hazardous vapors, leading to emergency alerts and widespread evacuation orders across multiple cities in Orange County.

A 35-year-old woman, Phul Kumari Devi, died after her mud house collapsed during a storm in Rautahat. The incident occurred due to strong winds, and she was pronounced dead at Better Nepal Hospital. Separately, strong winds and fallen trees have disrupted electricity supply in parts of Nepal, with the Nepal Electricity Authority mobilizing technical teams for restoration.

Nepal Police data for Baisakh (April-May 2026) indicates over-speeding was the primary cause of 1,253 out of 2,294 road accidents nationwide, resulting in 239 fatalities. Drunk driving was also a significant factor, contributing to 112 accidents and 12 deaths, with authorities intensifying enforcement and awareness campaigns.

At least 15 people died and 10 were injured when a truck carrying iron rods and passengers overturned in Bangladesh's Tangail district. Police reported the driver lost control of the vehicle, which was traveling from Dhaka to the northern region with hitchhikers ahead of the Eid al-Adha festival. Many of the victims were daily wage laborers traveling to reunite with their families.
