Canal water released to support wildlife in Chitwan National Park

Water has been released from the Khageri Canal to supply drinking water for wildlife in Chitwan National Park and the Barandabhar area due to rising summer temperatures. Water has been diverted to a nine-kilometre canal stretch and to recharge over 12 ponds within the park and the Barandabhar corridor. This seasonal initiative aims to reduce human-wildlife conflict and support conservation efforts by preventing wildlife from moving towards human settlements in search of water.
